The GMB method

GMB delivers a thorough curriculum of online trainings and in-person group coaching like the one we offer you here at Root Pilates. Everybody, from new parents, injured runners, hip replacement patients, older active people and of course, competitive athletes benefit from the GMB approach. We assess your current abilities and address your needs through individualising  moves inspired on animal locomotion and Calisthenics, which we then explore in a group class where everyone moves at their own pace. Prepare to be playful, crawl around the floor and tumble. Develop great functional mobility and readiness for your preferred activities or even just for everyday life, smiling all the way through. This is not a workout class but rather a session of mindful exploration of our bodies. Come join us!

The Rocket

Based on a playful approach to poses from the Ashtanga series, sequenced dynamically and  that encourage  the practitioner to have a go at them in a light-hearted way. The Rocket was devised in the 1980s by a Californian yogi named Larry Schultz who studied with Ashtanga Guru Pathabhi Jois. On returning to San Francisco, Schultz rearranged the Ashtanga sequences into his own series making them more accessible. He was the tour yoga instructor for legendary American Folk-Rock band The Grateful Dead and it was guitarist Bob Weir who nicknamed Shultz’s series  “The Rocket” as he felt it “gets you there faster” - wherever ‘there’ is! The Rocket is a fast paced Vinyasa practice that covers dozens of poses in a session , Rocket 3 includes 90 poses that are done in 90’. Come join us for the hot version, just remember child pose is allowed and encouraged! :)
